Bit of a daft question that. ……..leave luggage in your room,…or at the nearest train station where they have lockers.
Many hostels have storage rooms that you can use if you’re checking out in the morning but not travelling until the afternoon or evening.
Otherwise, just leave your stuff in your room…some hostels have lockers. Don’t leave valuables. If you’re that concerned, you can buy a wire mesh (called a PacSafe) that encompasses your pack and you secure with a padlock.
I’ve backpacked for years and happily left my stuff in dorm rooms with no concern - and no theft.
I recommend buying a bike lock and smaller locks for your zipper compartments. Then locking your bag up to the bed post when you take day trips.
For a full answer you can read my travel blog on what to pack at
I specifically talk about this there.
Happy travels!
