Need help planning a backpacking trip through Europe?

J J asked:

Me and a friend want to go backpacking through Europe. We have a plan, but are wondering if it is safe - just 2 girls. Anyone done it? Thoughts? Are there group packages for college students - like through a travel agency or something - that we could go through? That way we would have a guide and be with a group our age? Any helpful tips from experience would be helpful. THanks!

you coult try Goaheadtours.com. they have an amazing list of destionations.

or you could also try eftours.com its a student travel companie that is morelike a backpacking thing unlike goahead which is more of a luxury. and with ef you would be with people your own age.

    good luck and happy traveling!

    A great reasourse is Eurotrip.com

I used it so much for my first backpacking trip to Europe. We were two 18 year olds girls and it was easy! We didn’t do a tour…you really don’t need it in Europe, especially with a little planning. Get a guidebook like LET’s GO Europe…has so much info about trains, planes, hotels, etc.
A good way to go is to book your flights youself on like expedia.com or something into a major city like Paris?London? Rome? (Italy has persistant usually harmless Italian men that will try to befriend you so extra caution there) but then do a bus or train tour from there. It will be cheaper and maybe more fun than the whole tour thing

    has great iteneraries!!!

Whatever you do, don’t go alone, and don’t trust anybody no matter how kind or helpful they may seem. Some European countries aren’t that safe, and even if they are, they’re are many dangerous people in every country, some specifically target tourists. Plan everything to the smallest detail. Don’t put yourself in a situation where you’re going to need the help of a stranger.

You should definitely go in a group or have a guide or something like that. Especially if you’re young, which it sounds like you are!
