    Backpacking is when you take all of the stuff that you would need for a few days, put it in a backpacking, and go hiking out into the wilderness. To go backpacking through South America would probably mean to start at one end, and hike to the other end, probably stopping several times during the way to get more supplies.

    that’s means because you will be going to a lot of destinations in one trip you pack everything you need in a backpacking… Many people go backpacking in Europe to see all the european countries.
    A friend of mine is backpacking right now through Asia i would love to do that…
    I don’t recommend going backpacking in South America (I am from Brazil) because many places are not very safe… you can drive instead…
